WV Fun Flyers - December 2002

No Meeting  January / New Years Flight

There will be no January meeting, but be sure to join us on New Years day for the traditional New Years flight. Cabbage rolls will be served at 1:00.  Come on out and defy the cold weather, and at least fly around the pattern (or at least make fun of those that do).  The February meeting will be at Curtis and Kathy Pack’s house, Saturday, February 8th, with lunch at 1:00, and meeting at 2:00. The Pack’s house is a mile or so south of Leon airport on Rt. 62, across the railroad tracks. Don't forget to bring any photos you might have to donate to a WVFF photo album Rose is putting together.

December Meeting / Christmas Party

The December meeting and Christmas party was held Saturday, December 7th, at Curtis and Kathy Pack’s home. Another great dinner, with ham furnished by the club, and covered dishes, desserts drinks etc., brought by the membership, was enjoyed by all. A brief meeting was held, with the main topic of business being the election of officers for the coming year. Congratulations to the new officers.................

Another decision made at the December meeting was to fund a WVFF web site. Gretchen Watson is Web Manager for the new site. Check the site at:

The site is still somewhat under construction, but is looking good. Send suggestions to gretchen@wvfunflyers.com.

Pilots Lounge Remodeling in Progress

Captain Rogers is heading up the upgrading of the “Hen House”, with the construction of a 12’ x 12’ addition being built.  The addition will house the sink, stove and refrigerator, freeing up the much needed space in the current lounge. Soon we will be looking for some funding for new linoleum for the lounge, but as this is a very slow time of year for the airport, it can wait a month or two.

You Folks Finally Get a Break

Well, after 2 years of reading my drivel, the reins of the WVFF Newsletter is being turned over to our new editor, Gil Watkins. I want to thank everyone for their support and kind comment over the last 2 years (yeah, I know you were just being nice). I have enjoyed putting this thing together the best I could, but just the same, I look forward to reading WVFF news from a new perspective. Thanks again, and see you at the airport..............
